1. Jack has been told his wife will never recover from her injuries. All around him, his family and friends are urging him to get on with his life and accept that Clare is gone forever. With this in mind, when he meets Andi he is more open to the idea of a relationship with her than he would've been even a few months earlier. What did you think about Jack entering into a new relationship when his wife was technically still alive? And what did you think of his decision not to divorce Clare once he was involved with Andi?
2. At one point, Jack expresses his concerns to Jamie about what he might've done if he'd met Andi when everything was still normal with Clare. Jamie assures him that he might've looked, but he never would've acted. Do you agree with this?
3. What would you have done in this same situation? Do you think you could've moved on while your spouse was in such a state of limbo? (Keeping in mind that doctors said she would never recover.)
4. Which woman do you think was the love of Jack's life? Clare or Andi? Or do you think they both were at one point?
5. Andi steps into a difficult situation when she moves into Jack's home with him and the girls. The house is clearly Clare's, and at one point Jack says they stayed there because they felt it was best for the girls to not have to give up their home after they'd already lost their mother. A lot of readers have said they never could've done what Andi did. But I believe her love for Jack made it possible for her to overlook a lot of issues that might've been deal breakers in a different situation. What do you think?
6. Clare's decision to let Jack go rather than force him to choose between her and Andi was gut-wrenching to write. Do you think Clare did the right thing? And do you think Jack did the right thing by letting Clare make the decision for all of them?
